BUMPS

A new visual identity

The Story

The Bumps website provides reliable, evidence-based, and accurate information about use of medicines in pregnancy, in the form of freely available patient information leaflets called ‘Bumps’ (‘Best Use of Medicines in Pregnancy’.)

Bump leaflets are produced by the UK Teratology Information Service (UKTIS), a not-for-profit national organisation hosted by the Newcastle upon Tyne hospital NHS Foundation Trust and funded by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) on behalf of the UK Health Departments. Bump leaflets are based on the scientific material UKTIS produces for healthcare professionals and incorporate information from all relevant published scientific studies.

The Challenge

As lead creative (UX/UI) working with the great team at Optimizely, and the UK Teratology Information Service, I was tasked with creating a new strong and recognisable visual brand identity and to design and deliver a consistent website.

Main objectives – to balance the professionalism and accessibility requirements of the UK’s NHS site, whilst making it user friendly and engaging enough for users to leave feedback and become part of the growing Bumps community.
